Edit Academic Internship in Word

Choose one page for a few relevant placements, one substantial project and selected campus work. Use two when further research or service shows a different contribution, such as validating data, presenting findings or coordinating people. A longer course list alone does not need another page.

Section order: Education → Experience → Leadership and Activities → Academic Project; additional projects and service in the two-page version → Skills and Interests

  1. Replace the academic details

Update the degree, expected graduation, GPA scale and course names before editing experience. Keep only courses relevant to the internship. Replace the sample portfolio link and its destination, or remove it if you have no work to share.

  2. Retain the date alignment

Edit the existing school, organization and date lines rather than rebuilding them with spaces. The body uses 11 pt Liberation Serif. Check its availability in your Word installation; a substituted font can change line wrapping and page count.

  3. Check the final project and skills

After editing, inspect the page break with paragraph marks visible. Keep a project title with its description, and leave Skills and Interests after the final experience. Shorten repetitive bullets before reducing the type size or margins.

Why this sample bullet works

Fictional example from the 1-page sample

Cleaned and joined 18,000 survey records in R; documented missing values and validation checks for a study of household commuting costs.

The sentence connects an action, a tool and a research purpose. The record count explains scale; the validation work shows care without claiming that the student led the study. Your own example can use a smaller dataset or a non-numeric deliverable.

Find the facts for your own version

  • What data, sources or materials did you personally prepare?
  • Which checks did you perform, and how did you record them?
  • What research question or deliverable did your work support?

Use only details you can support. You do not need to invent a number to describe useful work.
